Following my viewing of a thought-provoking documentary on the Lindbergh Baby kidnapping I started work on this painting. The implications of the kidnapper's audacious act, utilizing a precarious homemade ladder to access the child's bedroom window and successfully abscond with the baby undetected, left me wondering if this really could have happed the way it was explained. Coinciding with my ongoing exploration of the "Houses" series of paintings, I decided to incorporate a ladder-shaped element into the composition, positioned just right of center at the bottom of the artwork.
